It is no secret, we are all facing challenges in an ever-changing world. Just look at the headlines – Wars, struggling economies and tumultuous politics leaves a lot to be desired. Successful businessman, entrepreneur, internationally renowned speaker and author, Brett Archibald has faced challenges of his own that forms an analogy for companies and individuals trying to tread water in turbulent times and face these challenges head on.
Having fallen overboard unconscious off a surf charter boat in the middle of a storm, being stung by Portuguese man-of-war jellyfish, bitten by small fish, attacked by seagulls, hit by a shark plus surviving the ordeal of swimming for 28.5 hours alone in the Mentawaii Straits in the Indian Ocean, Brett has now become a sought-after corporate speaker. The South African Council of Shopping Centres is proud to host Brett as the next speaker at the SACSC KwaZulu-Natal Chapter Networking Breakfast.
Brett said he could not wait to share his experiences with members on 23 March, 2018 at the Durban Country Club: “People cope with trauma and tragedy in different ways, and I feel fortunate to be able to share this story with others in such a way that will give them an insight as to what I went through and how it has changed my perspective and view of life. I firmly believe we all need to find ways where we can add meaning to our own lives and those around us,” he said.
South African born Archibald matriculated at Westville Boys High and studied at Natal University and the University of South Africa. His illustrious global career that included the roles of Group Managing Director, Group Development Director and Group Development Director for many international companies, helped him emerge from the turbulent waters that almost claimed his life. His incredible focus, belief, determination and will to survive, together with those who saved him, form the backbone of this amazing story that began when he went on a surfing trip to Indonesia with a group of childhood friends.
Brett’s experience and ultimately his survival has been transformed into an invaluable account and lesson that can be applied to individuals and corporate industries-across the board. He will share his insights with those in attendance.
