Are you a property owner, tenant, or trustee? Upskill yourself in sectional title and become an informed community scheme resident by uplifting your knowledge and understanding. 

The National Association of Managing Agents (NAMA) new online course in Sectional Title Living- The Nuts and Bolts is now available and open for registrations.

The course is presented by Vita Wilkens from the Department of Construction Economics, University of Pretoria, and hosted by Enterprises@UP in conjunction with NAMA.

This short course is for all community scheme residents, including owners, trustees, tenants, or anyone interested in learning more about Sectional Title.

The course is a three-month self-paced online programme. Delegates can start the course at any time throughout a given year but must complete the course within three months or by the 31st of December of the year of registration.

The course will cover the following topics:

  • The meaning of sectional title ownership
  • The history of sectional title
  • Sectional title ownership
  • Formation of a sectional title scheme and units
  • The handover from the developer to the body corporate
  • Management of a sectional title scheme
  • Body Corporate
  • Functions of the body corporate
  • The duty to maintain the common property
  • The establishment of an administrative fund
  • The establishment of an administrative fund
  • The establishment of a reserve fund
  • The duty to insure the buildings and common property
  • Meetings and voting
  • Voting at a general meeting
  • Trustees
  • Executive and non-executive managing agents
  • The administrator
  • Rules
  • Rights and obligations of owners
  • The Community Services Ombud
  • The extension of a unit and a scheme

The course material can be downloaded and attendees will receive an Enterprises@University of Pretoria attendance certificate after completing the course and taking the quiz.
