To celebrate Youth Month, the GBCSA has invited the 2020 Greenovate Award Winners to share their winning submissions with our green building community.

Join the GBCSA on the 22nd of June 2021 for their next GBCSA Planet Shapers Online Event, where tomorrow’s leaders showcase their contribution to the green building movement.

GBCSA CEO Lisa Reynolds will be joined by Jean-Pierre Mostert, Rue Munemo and Monique Scheepers from the University of Stellenbosch; Fadheelah Madhi, Shweta Singh and Mpho Mtimkulu from the University of the Witwatersrand; and Talia White, Alan Hunter and Dylan Hubner from the University of Cape Town.

Their topics will include:  Topological Interlocking for 3D Printed Concrete; Thixotropic Characteristics for Robust Interlayers in 3D Printable Concrete; Development of a Training Methodology for Emerging Contractors; The Use of Waste Tyre Rubber in the Partial Substitution of Cement Bricks in South Africa; An investigation into Critical Success Factors for Sustainable Waste Management in Shopping Centres; and An Investigation of the Impact of Implementing Innovative Technology to Reduce Energy Consumption in South African Commercial Property.

The Greenovate Awards exposes students to key sustainability concerns within the property and construction sectors and introduce industry to the fresh thinking and talent available to them.  The Awards encourage students to learn about green building and sustainability early on in their careers.
