EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) is a simple user-friendly Green Rating system in the form of an online software platform. EDGE determines the financial viability of a project’s green potential. Smart, fast, affordable EDGE makes sure green homes are available to all. Each EDGE application requires the appointment of an EDGE AP(Accredited Professional) who works with the client and the project team to prepare and submit the project documentation to GBCSA for certification.
Part 2 will give you:
A detailed understanding of how the EDGE software works and the various measures it provides as options.
To understand the process and benefits of the EDGEcertification process.
Certified qualification for those interested in becoming an EDGE Accredited Professional once you complete and pass the online exam.
About the full day workshop:
This 1 day session gives you a bite-size introduction to the EDGE tool and the benefits of EDGE certification.
What does an EDGE Expert do?
An EDGE Expert influences a client’s decision to design and build green, working closely with or within the design team. By using the EDGE software, an EDGE Expert provides a cost-benefit analysis of green concepts, systems and solutions that best match the client’s aspirations. For clients wishing to certify their projects, an EDGE Expert instils confidence that a project meets the EDGE standard.
An EDGE Expert precedes an EDGE Auditor, working within or in tandem with the client’s design team on decision-making, confirming that the project meets the EDGE standard by using the EDGE software, and preparing the project for certification.
What does the EDGE Expert training cover?
During the training, you will learn how to quantify the value of passive and active design elements, how to determine which energy and water-saving systems and solutions are best for a particular location and climate, and how to measure the collective impact of design decisions on the project. In addition to gaining a deeper understanding of the EDGE software, you will also learn about the EDGE standard and certification process.
Hosted by the Green Building Council South Africa and a qualified faculty member who holds the expertise of applying this rating tool to the certification of a building, this full day session includes an introduction to the Green Building Council, outlines what we do and then dives into the rating tool, the categories and measures. After lunch we spend some time working through group exercises that offer participants a deeper understanding of the application of the tool.
