Women’s Property Network: Celebrating yearend with Growthpoint Properties

Ninety female property professionals recently gathered at the new Vine and Dandy coffee and wine bar in celebration of yearend with Women’s Property Network, in partnership with Growthpoint Properties.

This year has been an amazing year! Our aim this year – and going forward – is to create meaningful engagements for women, to network, and to empower one another in the industry,” said Bronwin Titus, alongside fellow powerhouse Western Cape Chapter committee members – Tamsyn Louw, Karen Miller,  Vivienne Gutsche, Lulama Loloba and Kim Pfaff-Karg.

Vine and Dandy forms part of Growthpoint’s historic Longkloof Precinct project which included the renovation of several buildings and the creation of a public square.

Bashirah Martin, Portfolio Manager for Growthpoint Properties said their vision was to reimagine the buildings and the vacant parking lot as a modern and trendy mixed-use precinct embodying the essence of the city yet remaining respectful of the precinct’s heritage.

Longkloof was founded over a century ago by a tobacco company and its legacy continues,” she said.

This is where our journey started. In 2018, with all its challenges and obstacles, we wanted to refurbish the offices and to build a world-class hotel. We arrived on site and then Covid-19 hit, and our teams were forced to do as much as we could before we had to close the site on the 27th of March 2020, but we kept on dreaming and we kept on working and we strongly believed that with time, being back on site, would be the continuation of our dream.”

“In September 2023, we got the go-ahead to return to site and it was an exciting time for Growthpoint. We have also kept the best for last – the 150-room Canopy by Hilton Longkloof Cape Town, the first of its kind in Africa.”

“Longkloof Precinct is an important piece of heritage, and it proves that we can combine the past with the future.

The ladies were also privileged to get a sneak preview of the various spaces forming Longkloof Precinct via guided tours of three different spaces throughout the evening: Workshop 17, the brand-new hotel, and the new WorkAgility workspace.
