BBC Lifestyle’s property-reality franchise is expanding to Mauritius with a ten-part series, Listing Mauritius.
Listing Mauritius is a continuation of the franchise that first caught the attention of South African audiences with Listing Jozi, SA’s first property reality show, followed by Listing Cape Town.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to give our viewers more of what they love with Listing Mauritius. The homes, the scenery, and the people are simply extraordinary, and we’re excited to bring this magic to screens across South Africa,” said Nico Nel, Producer of Listing Mauritius.
With exotic landscapes, the perfect tropical weather, and cities steeped in cultural richness, Mauritius is often seen as a dream vacation destination. However, Listing Mauritius reveals how the island has also emerged as a premier location for luxury real estate for global investors – from luxury villas to boutique hotels to beachfront penthouses.
In the first five episodes, viewers are introduced to the luxury real estate agents, offering exclusive inside looks at stunning new properties across Mauritius, navigating high-stakes challenges and marathon property tours along the West and North coasts. For those interested in history, the series takes viewers on a journey through historical properties in Port Louis, alongside showcasing new luxury homes in Pointe d’Azur.
When asked about the main difference between filming in Mauritius and South Africa, Producers Nico Nel and Trevor Kaplan said, “In South Africa, we often complain about traffic. Mauritius is on another level. Although not always necessarily due to heavy traffic, the roads are tiny, and travelling takes much longer on the island than in South Africa. Daily, a 60km trip that would take 30 minutes in Johannesburg would take 2 hours on the island because you can only travel at 30 – 50km/h through the rural roads and towns.”
