Construction of Club Med’s first resort in South Africa has begun on the north coast of KwaZulu-Natal.

Scheduled to open in July 2026, construction has reached the first floor of the main hotel at Club Med South Africa Beach which will comprise 345 rooms. The resort centre, which will boast a main pool, main restaurant and bar, welcome area, and boutique, is also taking shape with progress on the family area, which will include a pool and kids’ clubs, as well as the sports area.

The platforms for the resort’s excusive collection villas have been prepared and piling has begun on the 69 luxury villas.

Groundwork has also started on the state-of-the-art conference centre which will accommodate up to 500 delegates along with the resort’s parking area which will maintain a vehicle-free zone.

The development is being guided by Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA) principles with the development on track to achieve a 4-Star GBCSA rating.
