Minister of Human Settlements, Mmamoloko Kubayi, has confirmed her attendance as a guest speaker at the inaugural Residential Investment and Development Conference taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre on the 12th and 13th of July 2023.
For the first time in SA’s residential property history, the conference will bring together all stakeholders involved in the affordable, social, sectional title, retirement, and student housing sectors to discuss and explore opportunities and challenges.
As a leading advocate for equitable housing solutions, Minister Kubayi will deliver her keynote, ‘Housing for All. A Pipe Dream?’ on Day 1 (12th of July) during the conference’s main plenary session. She will focus on the government’s initiatives, policies, and strategies aimed at ensuring adequate housing for all individuals and families across the country.
The speaker lineup consists of industry experts who will drive the conversation around innovation, technology, and sustainable living including speakers from Consulting Engineers South Africa (CESA), the South African Institute of Valuers (SAIV), and the South African Institute of Architects (SAIA) who will break down modern construction methods and technologies. They will also discuss sustainable building materials and techniques.
The event will also feature a special discussion panel by the Banking Association of South Africa (BASA), led by Gilly Dlamini, General Manager, Human Settlements, on a banking perspective on the acceleration of affordable housing. He will be joined by the BASA committee: Zydah Manual, Portfolio Manager Home Loans, Absa; Sicelo Mkhize, Provincial Manager Business Banking, Capitec; JP Viljoen, Head of Home Ownership, Nedbank; Dr Simphiwe Madikizela, Head of Client Experience & Growth Head Middle Market (Aspire), FNB; and Marissa De Koker, Head of Affordable Housing and Partners, Standard Bank.
As transformation is such a pertinent aspect of society in SA, the event will close off with a panel discussion addressing transformation in the real estate industry. The session titled ‘The Future of Transformation in the Residential Sector’ will discuss how small businesses play an important role in the sector, and how they can be a valuable source of innovation and creativity. The objective is to create an enabling and collaborative environment. This panel will feature insights from the President of SAIBPP, Sylvester Martin; the CEO of the Property Sector Charter Council, Portia Tau-Sekati; and Mahadi Buthelezi, who leads WECONA. These three organisations champion transformation in the industry.
This is a unique opportunity to network with key stakeholders, learn from industry experts, and explore the latest trends in the residential real estate sector.
