Township Retail Investment Summit 2022: the power of township space & the future of its entrepreneurs

The inaugural Township Retail Investment Summit (TRIS), to be held on Wednesday, the 2nd of November 2022, is the brainchild of township dreamers Lekau Sehoana (Drip Footwear), Rita Zwane (Imbizo Shisanyama), Miles Kubheka (Wakanda Food Accelerator) and Jason McCormick (CEO of Exemplar REITail) who all believe in the power of the township space and the future of its entrepreneurs.

This one-day think tank event, targeted at entrepreneurs, developers, investors, retailers, and brands interested in expanding into the SA’s township space, is open for delegates to attend in person or virtually.

Hosted at Imbizo Shisanyama, Mall of Thembisa, the programme includes panel discussions, case studies, expert analysis, and solutions to create actionable change in the rural retail and township space with facilitator, keynote speaker and entrepreneur, Miles Kubheka:

Lekau Sehoana – the owner of Drip Footwear will join the TRIS panel to discuss the township dream, the challenges of accessibility, lessons learnt and how to pave the way for the next generation.

Nesi Chetty – the Fund Manager and Head of Property at STANLIB, joins the panel to discuss township investment, the risks and rewards, and access to capital and investor trust.

Itumeleng Mothibeli – Managing Director: South Africa at Vukile Property Fund joins the panel to discuss the township development model, the importance of location and challenges that need to be overcome.

Talifhani Banks – Founder of Analytics Advertising joins the panel to discuss the township consumer and the premiumization of the township value offering.

Godiragetse Fareed Mogajane – the Founder and CEO of Delivery Ka Speed will present a case study on pushing the envelope and redefining the boundaries of possibility while adding value and creating transformational change.
