During Q1 2022, South Africa’s office vacancy rate reached another new all-time high, with prime office space witnessing the largest deterioration, according to SAPOA’s Office Vacancy Report Q1 2022 which samples 3 093 office assets across 52 nodes and 18.8 million square metres of Gross Lettable Area (GLA).
Occupancy rates softened across all grades; the B-grade vacancy rate had the largest weighted impact on the overall vacancy rate while the A-grade vacancy rate ended the quarter at another all-time high.
