Hyde Park’s world-class events venue, Summer Place, is going on auction.
The executive business, banqueting, and conference centre, having been in operation since the 1990s, is located in Melville Road on almost 40 000m2 of land – ideal for development.
It was originally an expensive home built by ‘oil baron’ Marino Chiavelli in 1984 and purchased by businessman Solly Krok ten years later.
Stretching over three stands in park-like grounds, manicured lawns with a breath-taking pool area, Summer Place is known for its stone eagles, which perch on the high walls surrounding the premises, and the imposing water fountain featuring dragons, horses, and maidens by sculptor Danie de Jager.
Its extensive existing buildings include ballrooms, boardrooms, conference rooms, Summer House, a synagogue, a cottage, and office space, with a borehole and generator.
“The purchase of such a trophy property, with iconic positioning in Gauteng just five minutes from central Sandton on the golden mile, is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the right buyer,” says Norman Raad, Chief Executive Officer of Broll Auctions and Sales.
“It has excellent potential for future redevelopment for an astute purchaser – be it a residential developer, hotelier, or an entrepreneur.”
The property will be auctioned on the 30th of March 2022 at 11:00am on site.
