Parklands in the Western Cape the most searched for suburb, says RE/MAX

The Western Cape and Gauteng rank high among RE/MAX’s browsers, according to the agency’s latest National Housing Report Q4 2021.

Parklands in the Western Cape was the most searched for suburb on remax.co.za followed by Faerie Glen and Fourways in Gauteng. Bloubergstrand and Table View in the Western Cape placed 4th and 5th respectively.

These statistics mirror national trends. Lightstone Property recently reported that the top ten suburbs by transaction volume for 2021 were all in Gauteng or the Western Cape. In its report, Faerie Glen placed 5th, while Table View and Parklands placed 7th and 8th respectively.

According to Adrian Goslett, Regional Owner and CEO of RE/MAX Southern Africa, the 3 suburbs in the Western Cape that featured in their top 5 searched suburbs are popular areas as they tend to offer more affordable housing options compared to the other beachfront suburbs that are appealing to those who are semigrating from landlocked provinces such as Gauteng.

Fourways and Faerie Glen remain popular options for Gauteng buyers and these suburbs regularly feature in the top 5 suburbs in RE/MAX’s National Housing Reports.

These suburbs are well-established, desirable markets within in Johannesburg and Pretoria respectively. Both are situated near to the city centres and cater to a wide range of buyers,” notes Goslett.

Interestingly, KwaZulu-Natal did not feature in Q4’s top 5 last year. In previous RE/MAX National Housing Reports, Musgrave in KwaZulu-Natal featured in the top 5 suburbs on more than one occasion and Essenwood in KwaZulu-Natal, made an appearance too.

KwaZulu-Natal is rising in popularity among buyers, especially as more and more developments occur within the province. I would not be surprised if, in time, this province will feature more regularly among the top searched suburbs within South Africa”.
