The Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa (BWASA) is launching the South African Women in Leadership Census Report 2021 on Friday, the 8th of October 2021.
A critical research report that measures the effective participation of women in the mainstream economy, BWASA has over fifteen years conducted research to measure and track the representation of women in leadership in the workplace.
The report provides an ongoing, comprehensive headcount and analysis of women’s ineffective oversight of JSE-listed companies and their subsidiaries, together with large professional services firms, multi-national companies, and State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs). It also looks at women within institutions of Higher Learning and within the Civil Service in general.
The Census Report, representing an accurate headcount of women in leadership positions, including executive managers and directors, non-executive directors, CEOs, and chairpersons (or equivalent positions) of entities and institutions, has grown over the past fifteen years to become the most authoritative and comprehensive document on women’s participation in South Africa’s mainstream economy.
In addition, the industry used the report as a reference within academia, government, local institutions and other international organisations and platforms including the World Economic Forum.
2021 marks a critical milestone to measure progress to date and to reflect on the type of leadership required during a pandemic.
