Atterbury invests R150m in office and gym development at Castle Gate

Atterbury is developing a 6 000m2 addition to its existing Castle Gate Lifestyle Centre which will add a Planet Fitness gym and 3 500m2 of premium-grade suburban offices.

The construction of the gym and office building is underway at an investment of R150 million. Comprising of two wings in equal size, one will be occupied by Planet Fitness while the other will be dedicated to office space. Two of the three office floors are already let with Atterbury securing the tenancies of VDT Attorneys in 1 700m2 and Central Developments in 450m2.

The gym and offices have become the latest building blocks in the mixed-use precinct that, on completion, is expected to represent a total investment of R6 billion and 20 000 permanent jobs.

A large-scale, modern, multifaceted development, Castle Gate will ultimately comprise of 100 000m2 of office space, 40 000m2 of specialist medical facilities, and a hotel as well as 1 100 residential units. The precinct will also include eight hectares of protected green areas with walking and running trails.

Castle Gate Lifestyle Centre is the first phase of the precinct development, having opened in late November 2020. It is fully let, and it is expanding its healthcare services for customers with Intercare Medical & Dental suites which will open in September 2021 – above Dis-Chem.

Continuing the ethos and design at Castle Gate Lifestyle Centre, the new office and gym building will echo the architectural language, applying green building principles from energy efficiency and rooftop solar to Castle Gate’s centralised water filtration plant.

The newest building in Castle Gate is set for completion in February 2022.
