Launched in 2015, Steyn City comprises of 2000 developed and developing acres of indigenous landscaping, creating a Utopian parkland residence.

Zoe van Onselen, Head of Marketing for Steyn City says that the biggest selling point is that your back garden (regardless of the size of your home), from a one bedroom apartment to luxury mansion), opens onto everything that is available and packaged as Steyn City – “the green lung of Joburg”.

There is a trend at the moment where people are wanting more space, to open their doors and to breathe fresh air and this is exactly what Steyn City offers. When you drive through Steyn City, you don’t feel you are in Johannesburg.”

City Centre, Steyn City’s latest mammoth residential development has resumed construction following Level 4 and 5 of the national lockdown. With final completion anticipated for 2024, this sophisticated product will offer 700 apartments and 11 penthouses, encompassing what Steyn City calls ‘truly living’ – a pedestrianized village.

With plans to launch City Centre in phases, Phase One will go to market in early 2021.

What makes City Centre so unique is that the internal fixtures and fittings are probably the finest that you will find at the moment in South Africa, we have worked closely with the teams at blu line and Gaggenau to ensure our buyers are truly getting the best” says Zoe.

Perfect for commuters who seek a lock-up-and-go executive lifestyle, City Centre’s offerings include a heliport with  executive lounge. Alternatively, families wanting to “put their roots down” will benefit from facilities including the internationally Microsoft accredited Steyn City School which boasts an Early Years Centre right through to Matric.

From a development point of view, Zoe says that City Centre is a totally unique product. “If you picture Dubai and New York apartment living, this is what we are creating but with the added benefit of not being situated in a city – you can roll out of bed and open your back door onto a 45km mountain bike track or play a round of golf or hit the beachfront with our massive 300m Clearwater lagoon.

Steyn City’s philosophy is to ‘build first and then to buy’ so investors are not left wondering about the development’s future amenities. “Your investment is safe from the beginning and you are not buying into a developer’s future pipe dream. You are buying into a low risk investment with all amenities in place.

Steyn City has numerous products on the market including 104 on Creek which launched earlier this year. These resort-styled apartments consists of two-and three-bedrooms with price tags in the region of R2.7 million.

Downsizing to a bigger life”, these apartments are perfect for anyone who wants the ease of a get-up-and-go abode but with a garden of no less than 2 000 acres.

A large majority of Steyn City’s products have been purchased as investor properties and, by first-time buyers who are wanting safety and security and Zoe says that Steyn City is that “safety blanket”.

Safety is a big thing on South African’s minds. With the unfortunate increasing crime statistics, safety within our parkland residence is one of our top priorities.”

From placing your head on your pillow and feeling safe at night to your kids being able to jump on their bicycles on a pedestrianized underpass and not having to cross a road to get to school – these things are unheard of in cities today”.

With a large investment made into City Centre, CEO Giuseppe Plumari and the executive board have confidence in South Africa, and they believe that a development of this calibre will do well.

With Covid-19, everyone is anxious and unsure – everyone is hesitant, but it will pass. There is a product in Steyn City for every stage of your life. Whether you are starting out or finishing off, it offers you everything” she concludes.
