A new state-of-the-art hospital, the Club Surgical Centre has recently opened in Hazelwood.
The new facility features a state-of-the-art radiology unit with MRI and CT scanners as well as physiotherapy, speech therapy, aesthetic, dental and pathology facilities. This new landmark will be a dedicated surgical hospital, using advanced medical and surgical technologies.
In his opening address at the hospital’s launch, Dr Japie de Wet (resident plastic surgeon) described this bespoke facility as a beacon of
light and hope replacing towering disease, thanks to the combined vision of three groups of surgeons. :The aim of the centre”, he added, “was not only to provide quality care, but also an unequalled and future-oriented teaching platform“.
Both De Wet and fellow speaker and president of the South African Society of Dermatologic Surgery, Dr Pieter du Plessis, paid tribute to the wide spectrum of stakeholders sharing their vision. The key to their success, both emphasized, was the right partners – from the group of leading and pioneering surgeons willing to step out of their comfort zone and the venture capitalists and financiers, to the staff and the experienced management team afforded by the Pretoria Eye Institute.
“The vision of Club Surgical Centre“, De Wet explained, “extended beyond becoming a beacon of light“. “They would settle for nothing less“, he said, “than setting a trend in establishing day hospitals and starting the creation of a legacy“. “In so doing“, he concluded, it is his and his team’s wish to do everyone proud.
