The first Builders Express has opened in Limpopo’s Thavhani City, a first in the region in its precinct.

The custom-built Builders Express spans 2 500 square meters, featuring a 700 square meter garden centre. In total, the store’s first phase spans 3 200 square meters, served by two hundred and twenty two dedicated parking bay with a further 4 000 square meters dedicated to future expansion.

Owned and developed by Thavhani Property Developments (made up of local Thohoyandou company, Zevodox and Flanagan & Gerard), the earthworks for the new premises started at the beginning of August last year with the main contractor getting underway by September. The project provided an estimate one hundred and twenty jobs and a big boost to the local economy.

Designed to be the future economic hub of North Eastern Limpopo, Thavhani City’s development master plan will create a new modern mixed-use CBD, which will include private healthcare facilities, new transport terminals, a motor city, offices, hotels and a value retail centre. It will also feature community soccer fields and an outdoor gym, all linked with landscaped pedestrian walkways.

The first phase of Thavhani City, the 50 000 square meter Thavhani Mall, opened in August last year and it has proven to be a resounding success and a powerful catalyst for the development roll out of the surrounding Thavhani City mixed-use urban precinct.

In addition, developers intend to strengthen the growing central business district with the adjacent construction of value retail and major brand motor dealerships. A flagship NHC private medical day care clinic is in planning for the city. At 3 500 square meters, it will be the group’s largest clinic in South Africa and it will provide key medical specialist and facilities, including a radiologist, pathologist, dialysis and ten general practitioners. It will also provide a nursery school.

A new office park will be developed within the city. This multi-business office park will offer vibrant co-working facilities for entrepreneurs with the aim of becoming a hub of innovation, small businesses, job creation and economic activity.

Local businessman Khosi Ramovha, of Thavhani Property Investments, says: “We are pleased to welcome Builders Express to Thavhani City. Builders Express is an ideal business to serve the needs of this community by providing excellent high-quality hardware and building materials for the thriving residential construction industry in the area. With more business, employment, healthcare, social, and residential opportunities in Thohoyandou than ever before, it is becoming an increasingly attractive place to live, work, and visit. With Thavhani City we are building more than a CBD, we are also building a burgeoning community that is rich with opportunities and a place that people are proud to call home.

The new Thavhani City is rising and we are honoured to play a role in building its very bright future. Each element of the Thavhani City master plan introduces new employment and economic opportunities. The opening of the new Builders Express, the first in the region, is yet another example of its growing comprehensive offering. With Thavhani City, the people of this community are increasingly enjoying easy-to-access mixed-use urban functions and facilities in one central, relevant, attractive, and vibrant place” concluded Paul Gerard, MD of Flanagan & Gerard.
