The South African market’s building activity (for new private sector-financed housing) has remained largely subdued up to late 2017 in both the planning and construction phases, compared with the corresponding period in 2016, based on the data released by Statistics South Africa.
Growth in the residential building activity is set to have been largely subdued for the whole of 2017, with the outlook for 2018 dependent on the trends in the economy, household sector finances and the levels of confidence.
