This year marks 80 years since the inception of the Institute of Estate Agents South Africa (IEASA) and to celebrate this milestone IEASA hosted a sparkling gala dinner together with special guests from the Estate Agency Affairs Board, National Association of Realtors, local industry stakeholders, IEASA benefit partners and loyal IEASA members.
The theme “The sky is the limit”, tied in with that of the NAR Convention 2017, an event which many South African property practitioners attend. IEASA President Lanice Steward explained, “IEASA’s association with NAR is as the longest standing member of the National Association of Realtors which represents over 1-Million US Members and 80 global partners worldwide, as such,” she added, “we are indeed privileged that NAR have sent a delegation to celebrate with us.”
The NAR delegation was made up of Barbara Schmerzler NAR Regional Coordinator, Western Europe, Israel & South Africa; Nancy Macaluso NAR Presidential Liaison to South Africa and her husband Tony who is an International Real Estate trainer; and Joe Schneider NAR Director Of Global Alliances.
Steward thanked the main sponsor of the event being ABSA, Incompass, Portside Properties, FNB, Dykes van Heerden, The Virtual Agent and the National Association of Realtors, all of whom are long-term supporters of IEASA and its members and expressed appreciation for their willingness to give back to IEASA.
IEASA kicked off its 80 th anniversary festivities in April, with the launch of its new logo and website at the first-ever Property Buyer Show in Cape Town, where it hosted the IEASA SMME Pavilion. “The event was so valuable for profiling IEASA and its members that we will again be partnering with them for their event taking place in October in Gauteng.” said Steward.
“This year has been about answering the urgent call from member for tangible benefits”, continued Steward, “to this end we have launched a variety of new cost-saving partnerships to assist members in the day-to- day running of their businesses. These benefits range from access to data and CRM’s, top notch rental inspection apps, discounted advertising rates from media partners to online training”.
As soon as the dust has settled on the gala dinner, IEASA will embark on its annual IEASA/SA Home Loans Roadshow in 6 venues around the country during August. The roadshow features headline motivational speaker and extreme swimmer Ryan Stramrood.
Steward concluded that “IEASA is committed to finding solutions to help property practitioners reach new heights, which echoes the ethos of this cumulative event. We will continue to support our members and be their helping hand.”
