Standard Bank, Growthpoint Properties, Lafarge, Rabie Property Group and the Century City Conference Centre and Hotel have demonstrated their firm commitment to green building by partnering with the Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA) in hosting the tenth annual Green Building Convention.

Taking place at the new Century City Conference Centre and Hotel in Cape Town from 9 – 11 October, the annual Green Building Convention challenges attendees to ‘dare to lead’ and join the GBCSA’s vision to inspire a built environment in which people and planet thrive.

Dorah Modise, CEO of the GBCSA says that each of the sponsors are green building leaders in their particular sectors. “Growthpoint and Standard Bank are both valued members of our Green Building Leadership Network, which speaks for itself, while Rabie is one of the leading green developers in South Africa. Lafarge is strongly committed to delivering environmentally friendly cement, concrete and aggregates, and the Century City Conference Centre is built and operated to ensure minimum impact on the planet. The GBCSA is delighted to partner with these like-minded companies that share our dedication to building better buildings and cities.”

This year’s programme not only promises a host of top-notch speakers and thought-provoking topics, but outstanding networking opportunities in innovative new guises. The four ‘Meet the Speaker’ speed-dating style booths will guarantee that all attendees get to engage with our keynote speakers, while the Professionals Lounge offers an exclusive space for a maximum of five organisations from the professional services industry. A members-only ‘Pod for Hire’ gives GBCSA members an exclusive space to display their marketing material and meet with potential clients or suppliers during one of the plenary breaks, and the GBCSA lounge will encourage robust debate while guests recharge themselves with refreshments and their phones charge up for the next session.

“Over the past nine years, the Green Building Convention has built a reputation as the not-to-be-missed event for top professionals in the built environment who are committed to building better buildings today in order to leave a greater legacy for tomorrow. Our tenth promises to be the most meaningful of all – an exclusive gathering of top minds and leading experts. Make sure you don’t miss out,” concludes Modise.
