Monday the 24th of April 2017 marked the official, much-anticipated breaking of ground at Mount Edgecombe Retirement Village. To celebrate this milestone, a sod turning event took place at the Kindlewood Estate with Murray Collins and his development team, purchasers and local media.

“This is an extremely motivating phase to be in, as all our extensive research and careful planning is finally being implemented to make Mount Edgecombe Retirement Village a reality,” shares Murray Collins, CEO of Collins Residential, a subsidiary of H. Collins and Sons Group.

He continues, “The breaking of ground also signifies a huge triumph for Collins Residential and Mount Edgecombe Retirement Village, as we deliver a product that stems from a real shortage in the real estate market. Based off our extensive research, as well as the data collected from our association with the Retire KZN campaign, we are confident that we are delivering what the market needs. Most significant, is the fact that our retirement estate is the only one, within the Greater Umhlanga area that has reached this point within a number of years; making this a significant moment for retirement within KwaZulu-Natal as a whole.”

Mount Edgecombe Retirement Village is starting with the construction of the first of three phases of this iconic development, which includes a 6500m2 Care Centre which will be fully functional come the time the residents move in.

“It has always been our priority to start with the construction of the 24/7 Care Centre, yet over and above this promise, we will also roll out a show unit by the end of this year, that will provide a true reflection of the quality of finishes and high workmanship standards residents can expect to see throughout the estate,” explains Collins.

It has been revealed that the first residents can look forward to taking occupation of their units within 15 months of construction commencing, which will coincide with the completion of the Care Centre.

“With the official breaking of ground underway, we can confidently confirm that by August 2018, Mount Edgecombe Retirement Village will be a reality,” says Collins.

Mount Edgecombe Retirement Village consists of 1, 2 and 3-bedroom single-level sectional title units, as well as a limited number of freestanding homes, all of which are pet-friendly and epitomise luxury lifestyle living and comfort with the convience of world-class healthcare on your doorstep.
