Sedgefield home, Seeff
An excellent investment opportunity, this luxurious 660sqm home is set on two levels, each with a living area, kitchen and comes with five bedrooms, chandeliers, a wood-burning fireplace, a covered deck and swimming pool, garaging and fabulous views, all set on a 1284sqm plot. Price: R5.9m.

The small village of Sedgefield, just outside Knysna, ranks as one of those wonderful hide-aways for holiday makers and retirees. Mairi Stainton and Cynthia Theron, Seeff’s agents for the area say that it is also an excellent permanent base for the many upcountry buyers who are now heading to the seaside tranquillity of the Garden Route.

It is located on the coastline between George (35km) and Knysna (20km). It offers access to the main commercial centres of the area, such as George and Knysna and even Plettenberg Bay.

“The latest Lightstone data shows that the market here has held up well. It is one of the few areas where overall transaction volumes for last year, at 267 was up compared to 2015 (225). The median price for sectional title and freehold is also up slightly year-on-year and now stands at around R756 000 and R1.15m respectively”.

The agents note further that a key attraction of the village, is that it offers a diverse selection of property, still at very affordable prices for such a prime coastal location. “Vacant land for example still starts at under R300 000 and range to around R1.6m for a stunning sea view plot”.

Houses start at around R950 000 to R1.7m for a three-bedroomed cottage. Homes with sea views or those located closer to the beaches though range upwards of around R2m.

For luxury buyers too, there are plenty of options with prices generally in the R2.9m-plus range. At the top end of the market, a luxurious 660sqm home with five bedrooms, set on a plot of 1284sqm is on the market at R5.9m.

It is set high above the village in one of the most desirable streets and offers excellent value according to Stainton and Theron. There are two levels, each with a living area, kitchen and bedrooms and the property therefore offers a range of options.

While it makes for a stunning home for a large family, it can accommodate two families, so it is ideal for dual living or as a family holiday home that can be let out when not in use.

An entrance hall with an impressive staircase leads up into the main living area that includes an open-plan lounge and dining area and gourmet kitchen. The living area opens to a covered veranda with the most stunning views in Sedgefield to enjoy the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Finishes include chandeliers and a wood-burning fireplace, ideal for the chilly winter evenings.

There are five bedrooms and bathrooms, two with en-suite bathrooms, located on the upper level and both opening to the veranda with panoramic vistas of the lagoon. The main bedroom has a walk in dressing room and luxurious bathroom.

The lower level offers a complete residence with three bedrooms and bathrooms as well as an entertainment area and modern kitchen. All rooms open onto a covered pool deck with yet more magical views. Additional features include garaging, a swimming pool and top class security.
