Wealth Migrate placed in the top three at the first ever African FinTech Awards, held at the Sandton Convention Centre yesterday.
The African FinTech Awards and Conference is the biggest FinTech event of the African Continent. The main purpose of the African FinTech Awards is to celebrate innovators that shape the future of finance and acknowledge the work these companies do to make a difference. The Awards formed part of the Finance Indaba – the largest Finance event on the continent visited by 5 000 finance professionals.
“We are incredibly proud of our team to have done so well in the first FinTech awards that we’ve entered into” says Jay Thomson, Chief Digital Officer at Wealth Migrate. “It was great to be a part of such an important landmark event which will impact the entire FinTech community. The selection process for the awards consisted of two rounds. Firstly, FinTech companies were nominated by experts, stakeholders and investors from all over the world. The next step was to determine the African FinTech 100 – consisting of the best 100 African FinTech companies – which was generated by combining public and expert voting. Over 30 000 FinTech enthusiasts from all over Africa voted for their favorite FinTech company or bank during the voting competition.
The second and final round took place at the Sandton Convention Centre on Thursday 13 October 2016. The Top 3 FinTech companies within each category were required to give a pitch in front of a panel of top-notch judges, followed by a Q&A session of 5 minutes with the judges. All of this resulting in Wealth Migrate placing in the top 3 of the awards.
