International brands to take up tenancies at redeveloped Menlyn Mall

Zara, Hamleys toy store, Krispy Kreme doughnuts and H&M clothing are just four major international brands that will soon be opening their doors in Menlyn Park Shopping Centre in Pretoria. The centre, which is undergoing a R2-billion redevelopment due for completion later this year, will become the largest in Africa, with over 500 shops and a gross lettable area of 177 000 m2.

Andrea de Wit, marketing manager of Menlyn Park Shopping Centre, says she’s looking forward to adding to the quality of the shopping experience of the centre’s target audience. Not only that, but “Pretoria is home to 170 embassies and consulates, the second-highest concentration in the world, and we want our international tenants to make visiting diplomats and VIPs feel right at home,” she adds.

Spanish clothing and accessories label Zara already has eight stores in South Africa, and will open its first store in Pretoria at Menlyn Park Shopping Centre. Shoppers will get to experience the store’s intimate display areas, trendy architectural design and unique approach to fashion.

Hamleys, originally from London – with over 255 years of experience, prides itself on being “the finest toy shop in the world”. Menlyn Park Shopping Centre will play home to the seventh store of its kind in Southern Africa, and once opened it will be one of the brands flagship stores.

Krispy Kreme has been serving doughnuts to hungry Americans since 1937 – and South Africans are every bit as sold on the delicious doughnuts and coffees. Now Krispy Kreme will be bringing its secret-recipe doughnuts to Tshwane.

The first Hard Rock cafe was opened in London in the early 1970s by two Americans. Since then, Hard Rock has gone truly international and is today one of the most recognised companies in the world. The Menlyn Park Shopping Centre 800m2 Hard Rock cafe will present some of South Africa’s best musicians and entertainers, along with its legendary burgers, against the much-loved background of authentic memorabilia.

Clothing chain H&M, which has its roots in Sweden, will be expanding its South African market at the centre. The store will be more than 3 000m2 in size, selling fashion and quality at the best price in a sustainable way.

Menlyn Park Shopping Centre is also excited to be welcoming some big anchors. Dis-Chem Pharmacies, a leading specialist in the beauty, health-food and sports-supplements markets, with in-store family clinics and beauty salons, is one; another is Australian retailer Cotton On, offering the latest in on-trend and effortless fashion across men’s and women’s wear at affordable prices; and DionWired is where shoppers will be able to feel the pulse of electronic global trends, with store-in-store Apple, Vodacom and Bose boutiques.

“These stores are going to be huge and will stock only top-quality products,” says De Wit. “We’re thrilled to be welcoming them and we know there will be something on offer for everyone.”
