Moolman Group invests in Hartbeespoort’s Village Mall

Leading property investor and developer Moolman Group will be upgrading its recently acquired Village Mall, located in the heart of Hartbeespoort in the North West Province.

Specialising in property investment, development and management, the group has proved time and time again that they are a company in touch with the realities of the South African property industry.

With decades of experience and a diverse portfolio of projects including corporate, government, retail and residential properties, Moolman Group were quick to see the potential in the R320 million mall.

The first-class shopping and dining experience for residents, Village Mall is located in picturesque town of Hartbeespoort, nestled between the slopes of the Magaliesberg Mountain and the banks of the Hartbeespoort Dam.

Pieter Lombaard, Moolman Group CEO, comments: “Village Mall is a place where families and friends get together to shop, socialise, and relax. The mall currently receives around 338,000 visitors per month and we have set the wheels in motion to improve this already very valuable asset. The main goal for us is to strengthen the centre’s offering and make sure we cater to everyone’s needs.”

The mall, which officially opened its doors in 2008 and was enlarged with a second phase in 2011, offers a current gross lettable area of around 24,000sqm.

Lombaard says: “Additional investment will go towards placing new tenants as well as upgrading certain aspects of the centre, like the Food Court Piazza area, general landscaping as well as ensuring our tenants have the space they need.”

Boasting nearly 60 retailers, which include major anchor tenants Pick n Pay, Checkers, Dis-Chem and Woolworths, Village Mall has already cemented itself as the leading shopping experience in the area.

Its current shopping mix also includes an array of fashion, electronics, homeware, health and beauty stores, making Village Mall an ideal meeting place for both visitors and residents alike.

Village Mall will also add to its convenience and choice with a new ABSA Bank branch opening in April. Plus, it is adding even more great retailers and services to Village Mall, with Capitec, Mr Price Sport, Baby Boom and Kids Emporium already signed on as new tenants. Improving the restaurant offering of Village Mall, Spur recently undertook a complete revamp and John Dory’s opened with excellent support of the surrounding community resulting in great trading.

Well situated near all major tourist attractions in Hartbeespoort, Village Mall offers visitors free parking and 24-hour security services.

“Hartbeespoort is an idyllic weekend and holiday destination for many, especially those living in Gauteng. We know we can count on high traffic during these periods, and as the only mall servicing this area, we see great potential in this asset,” says Lombaard. “We are committed to unlocking this potential and will apply our skill and experience to this project to achieve the desired results and take Village Mall into the future.”

Heleen Erasmus, General Manager of Village Mall, says:“We’re extremely excited about the new vision, positive energy and investment in Village Mall. Our tenants and our residents can look forward to exciting changes, with some projects starting as early as next month.”
