Construction of the Great North Industrial Park commences

Mr Sbusiso Dlamini and Mr Rhys Rocke.

Construction has commenced on the Great North Industrial Park in Benoni. The 15 000m2 mini-factory facility is being developed by FWJK, a nationally-based professional firm which pioneered the FWJK Co-Development at Cost Development Methodology which allows end-users and investors to avoid the burdensome profits charged by other sectional title developers.

The recent sod-turning ceremony was attended by various stakeholders from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality including the Director of the Gauteng Planning Commission, Mr Sbusiso Dlamini.

“The Municipality has been particularly impressed with the professionalism and speed with which FWJK conduct their property development operations,” Dlamini explained to attendees at the ceremony. Dlamini, who is also the Deputy Chairperson of the Ekurhuleni Investment Committee, went on to say that the Municipality would continue to support this kind of innovative private initiative in order to generate economic growth and create jobs.

The multi-user industrial facility, dubbed Great North Industrial Park, fronts onto Great North Road in Benoni on Johannesburg’s East Rand and is situated 4km from the O.R. Tambo International Airport. Gothic Construction is the main building contractor and is on target to achieve completion in September 2016.

Regional Director of FWJK’s Gauteng operations, Rhys Rocke, stated, “FWJK is proud to have pioneered a development methodology where industrialists, entrepreneurs and investors can wear the hat of the property developer and take transfer of their sectional title property at cost price, whilst reducing their risk and instantly creating wealth and financial leverage for those individuals who participate.”

Rocke went on to say that small affordable factories with ample 3-phase power would be the key to unlocking the potential of young South African industrialists. The park consists of 31 units, each with its own ablutions, tea kitchen and first floor office component. The units will be completed with fibre-optic connections and high quality roller shutter doors.
