Concierge service introduced for Menlyn's shoppers

To minimise inconvenience to shoppers during its current refurbishment, Menlyn Park Shopping Centre has introduced 12 Concierge Ambassadors to assist shoppers during its phase two expansion. The redevelopment will see the centre adding 50 000m2 of retail space and become one of the largest malls in Africa.

The brainchild of Primedia Unlimited’s shopping centre marketing specialists Primedia Lifestyle Marketing Services, the Concierge Ambassadors are stationed at the busiest nodes of the mall and are at the disposal of shoppers during trading hours, seven days a week.

“We know that any refurbishment project, especially in a busy retail environment like ours can be frustrating and adversely affect the number of shoppers through our doors, which is why we chose to be proactive,” says Tanja Gerber, Regional Marketing Manager for Primedia Lifestyle Marketing Services.

“They are stationed primarily at three main areas of the centre, namely the existing centre; the Village which is our temporary 18 month mall and the Grocery Avenue which covers most of our food and grocery outlets.”

Apart from assisting shoppers to navigate through the centre during renovations, they provide helpful hints and updates on new tenants and also treat our shoppers with surprise and delight treats on a monthly basis. The Concierge Ambassadors will be on staff right through to December 2016, seeing the centre through most of its renovations.
