There's nothing tame about The Wilds

This home in The Wilds is for sale through RealNet for R4,15m. It has four bedrooms, 4,5 bathrooms, four living areas, a study, staff quarters, three garages and a pool.

The “double” security system in The Wilds estate to the east of Pretoria is once again proving to be a strong driver of demand among high-end buyers for stands and homes in Lion’s Head – the last of six sub-estates in the overall development.

The system incorporates strict access control at The Wilds main gate, further checks at the entrance gates to each sub-estate, security cameras and regular vehicle and foot patrols.

Situated on a 220ha site between Woodhill Golf Estate and Mooikloof Equestrian Estate, The Wilds contains the sought-after Elephant Hills, Leopard’s Den, Rhino Ridge, Buffalo Creek and Cheetah’s View sub-estates as well as Lion’s Head.

Offering easy access to the R21 and N1, the OR Tambo International airport, the Netcare Pretoria East Hospital and the biggest Virgin Active gym in SA, the estate combines convenience with luxury, and the owners here are mostly high net-worth business owners and professionals, according to Vanessa Sofianos, principal of the local RealNet franchise.

“There are also top private schools and two upmarket shopping malls close by, and we have seen many families relocate here from other parts of Pretoria and even from as far away as Cape Town because of its excellent combination of location, facilities and top-notch security,” she says.

Most new homes in The Wilds, which also has its own pool, squash and tennis courts and luxury clubhouse, now sell for more than R4m – and RealNet is currently marketing three brand-new double-storey mansions in Lion’s Head for R4,6m each including costs.

Set on stands of 1100sqm to 1440sqm, these homes measure 450sqm to 500sqm and each have four or five bedrooms, several bathrooms, large living rooms that open out on to a patio and braai area, multiple automated garages and a magnificently landscaped garden.

RealNet also has some resale homes available in the other sub-estates of The Wilds, and such properties are selling quite readily at prices from R3,85m to around R4,15m. There are also townhouses available at prices starting from around R1,2m, and still some stands for sale in Lion’s Head at around R1,2m for just over 1000sqm.
