JLL South Africa’s Internship Programme aims to upskill graduates in the property industry

June being Youth Month in South Africa, JLL South Africa is highlighting the opportunities offered to promising young graduates through its graduate programme, contributing to upskilling talented youth in South Africa.

The JLL team shares its skills and market knowledge openly through internships offered to graduates seeking a career in property. Running from January to December each year, the programme provides graduates with the opportunity to learn from the various specialised disciplines in the business, allowing them to obtain real property experience within the fee-earning departments in which they are placed. The interns get the opportunity to work in a different department for each quarter of the year for holistic exposure to the business.

The JLL Graduate Programme encompasses:

· Mentorship and coaching by industry experts

· Business acumen and work readiness

· Workplace exposure

· Technical qualification

· Opportunities to be involved in current and future deals.

What the 2015 interns have to say:

“The JLL internship programme has offered me the opportunity to be involved in some really great projects with professionals who have a wealth of knowledge in the industry. I believe that the knowledge and experience gained from this programme is a great foundation for the rest of my real estate career,” Madibana Letsoalo (BSc Construction Studies, University of the Witwatersrand; BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying, University of the Witwatersrand).

“The highlight of my work experience so far has been the innovative office setup, which enables us interns to interact with all staff members, including senior managers, at any given time. We have the amazing opportunity of building an internal network of people, who have invaluable knowledge about the industry,” Tsholo Kekana
(BCom Finance, University of Johannesburg).

“I feel as though I am part of a team at JLL. I have been entrusted with real responsibilities, which encourages me to produce the best possible work I am capable of. At JLL I am more than just an intern – my opinion and contribution counts.” Nooraan Mahomed (Honours in BSc Property Studies, University of the Witwatersrand).

“The programme provides every intern with the opportunity to work and grow within different departments, allowing you to develop a new skill set and exposing you to a new set of challenges. JLL is truly a unique and exciting company to work for and the graduate programme is an amazing stepping stone for any graduate interested in the property sector,” Johanna Joubert (BA International Relations, University of Stellenbosch; LLB Postgrad, University of Stellenbosch; Legal Articles and Law School, LEAD).

With a total of seven graduate interns having gone through the programme from 2011 to 2014, and 71% of them offered permanent positions, JLL currently has an additional four interns enrolled in the 2015 programme.

JLL will once again be hosting interns in 2016. Applications for the 2016 JLL Graduate Programme may be made between 1 July and 31 August 2015. Interested candidates may apply by sending the following information to tia.nkabinde@eu.jll.com:
