More than half of all property sold in the prestigious Vaal Marina area situated on the banks of the Vaal Dam is now being transacted through the local Harcourts franchise.
Vaal Marina is the holiday and weekend playground of choice among many top Gauteng businessmen, thanks to its accessibility and relaxed lifestyle that offers waterfront living, great views and water sports such as fishing, boating, skiing and yachting.
Harcourts’ market share currently ranges between 58% and 62% based on monthly registration figures obtained from the Deeds Office, says Mario Grobler, MD of the Tergro Group, which holds the Harcourts franchise rights in five Gauteng regions as well as in Deneysville in the Free State.
“Having breached the 50% mark about three years ago, we are very pleased with our consistent growth and are committed to further growing our market share through the excellent real estate services offered by our diligent and qualified agents, some of whom are among the top Harcourts agents countrywide,” he says.
Grobler, a highly-qualified legal and financial advisor, adds that all franchises in the Tergro Group benefit from a sound management structure that enables estate agents to offer a seamless, one-stop service to their clients. Besides Vaal Marina and Deneysville, the group holds franchises in Vanderbijlpark, Kempton Park, Springs and Brakpan and also offers a rental service under the Rentalsdotcom brand.
While Vaal Marina is undoubtedly targeted by high-income buyers, with prices on the waterfront now reaching levels of around R14m, Grobler says that the group offers a wide spectrum of properties around the Vaal Dam with prices starting at just R500 000 for small homes or compact units in complexes.
“Whether buyers want a lifestyle with water frontage or just a budget getaway cottage, we can definitely assist them to find something within their budget.” The Deneysville property market, he adds, is attracting increased interest among buyers who want weekend getaways, with roughly half of current sales falling into this category.
“And buyers who work in surrounding areas such as Vereeniging about 30km away are also drawn to Deneysville because it offers excellent value for money, established infrastructure and a relaxed lifestyle. Deneysville recently celebrated its 75th anniversary with a Big Boat Regatta and a masquerade ball at the Castle, a landmark in the town.”
Grobler urges all prospective buyers in the Val Dam area to visit the Harcourts offices and experience professional real estate service. “We really value our clients and their loyal support because we know this is what enables us to be so successful.”
