TC (short for Thavanesan) left his position as Chief Executive of TCAA, a family run property consultancy business, to take up his post at Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in October 2014.
Until August 2008, he was Executive Director of Planning and Development Co-ordination for Tongaat Hulett Developments. After serving as National President of South Africa Property Owners Association (SAPOA) for 2005- 06, he continued to serve on the SAPOA Board and National Council until 2011. He also served as Chairman of SAPOA’s Government Liaison and Convention Committees during his tenure on the Board and National Council.
TC completed an undergraduate BA degree majoring in Economics and Geography. He completed a Master’s degree in Town and Regional Planning at, what was then called the University of Natal (Durban). TC also has a diploma in Business Management. In addition, he has been a member of the KZN Provincial Council of SAPOA and has also served on the provincial council of the South African Planning Institute (SAPI) for three years, two of which was in the capacity of treasurer.
In his career, both in the public and private sector, he has gained valuable property development knowledge and expertise, with strengths in the management of teams. He has vast experience in engaging with high level government, business and property professionals across the country.
