Another top industry accolade for Cradlestone Mall

Cradlestone Mall

The multiple award-winning Cradlestone Mall in Krugersdorp added to its growing trophy cabinet last week by winning the prestigious overall Spectrum Award in the South African Council of Shopping Centre’s (SACSC) annual Retail Development & Design Awards (RDDA) in Cape Town.

The award for the best new shopping centre development in the country represents another feather in Cradlestone Mall’s cap. The RDDAs, which recognise shopping centre and retail development excellence within the South African commercial property industry, were announced at the SACSC’s Annual Congress.

The latest win comes after Cradlestone Mall also took top honours in the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) 2014 Innovative Excellence in Retail Property Development Awards in June. In June Cradlestone Mall was also named the winner in the commercial section of the 9th Saint-Gobain Gypsum International Trophy Awards, which took place in Berlin, Germany. This global award was for its innovative roof design.

Cradlestone Mall’s general manager, Cara Grobler, hailed the SACSC Spectrum Award triumph. “Winning the overall best development title in the 2014 RDDAs at the SACSC Congress is yet another major industry acknowledgment of Cradlestone Mall as a leading-edge retail development.”

She adds: “We have won awards both locally and globally for shopping centre design. However, it is particularly special to have secured the top awards at both the SAPOA and SACSC awards, which are the two premier industry associations in the country.”

Designed by architects Bentel Associates International, the 76,000sqm super-regional Cradlestone Mall is situated on the edge of the Cradle of Humankind UN World Heritage site on Gauteng’s West Rand.

Besides its world-class design, Cradlestone Mall boasts a fresh retail mix and wide choice of nearly 200 shops, restaurants and services.

Cradlestone Mall opened its doors in November 2013 and is jointly owned and developed by Sasol Pension Fund, Pivotal Property Fund and Retail Africa. The mall is managed by Broll Property Group.
