Claremart Auction Group which has traditionally been based in Cape Town has since its fruition undertaken auctions nationwide. The past few years and twelve months in particular however have seen an increase in mandated auctions of both movable and fixed assets throughout the country and the Group today estimates that close on 25% of its instructions come from outside the Western Cape.
Regular instructions from Chevron SA with whom the Group are nationally contracted, have seen the auction house facilitate successful auctions of former Caltex sites in Durban’s Umbilo Road, Kwa Zulu Natal as well as Germiston, Springs and Westdene in Johannesburg, Gauteng and Virginia in the Free State. In addition the Group has continued in recent months to successfully sell family homes in Gauteng all of which formed parts of different Insolvent Estates in Pretoria and Boksburg. Most recently the Group undertook and are awaiting confirmation on the sale of two separate properties in liquidation which were located in Rustenburg and Buffelsfontein and which were auctioned at the Protea Hotel Balalaika, in Sandton on Thursday, June 19.
For more than 3 years the Group has been the official auctioneer of the Western Cape Government’s Department of Motor Transport as well as Roadworks Department and has recently also been nominated as the auction house of choice by the South African Revenue Service in the disposal of the government’s tax collecting agency’s surplus fleet vehicles and will be facilitating the first of these nationwide auctions in Pretoria on Wednesday, July 2 and will be knocking down vehicles for the Receiver across South Africa throughout 2014.
The South African auction landscape is rapidly modernizing to not only include direct internet marketing and mobi-sites browsing options but also the Group has recently incorporated an on-line bidding platform on its website for selected properties and this effort will be ideally utilized by the growing number of national buyers unable to attend the on-site or Multiple Auctions held across the country.
