Last night the tenants of Liberty Midlands Mall were recognised for their on-going excellence in customer service at the Annual Liberty Midlands Mall Tenant Awards held at the Victoria Country Club.

Despite a challenging economic period, through the dedication and commitment to service shown by tenants, Liberty Midlands Mall continues to realise increasing turnover and maintain consistent foot-traffic created by both the local Pietermaritzburg community as well as the wider catchment areas.
Umi Khan, Liberty Midlands Mall Centre Manager said, “The success that Liberty Midlands Mall has enjoyed over the last ten years and continues to enjoy, would simply not be possible without our tenants who constantly pull out all the stops to ensure that Midlands Mall remains Pietermaritzburg’s finest shopping centre.”
Melanie Veness, Pietermaritzburg Chamber of Business CEO was the keynote speaker of the evening.
The overall winners for the respective categories for the awards for excellent service are:
• Dischem (Super Large: >1000m2)
• Boulder Creek Spur (Large: Between 500-499m2)
• Wakaberry (Medium: Between 100-499m2)
• Scoin Shop (Small: <100m2)
• Typo (Best New/Revamped Store)
• Fidelity (Service Provider of the Year)
The Community Chest was acknowledged for their contribution to the Pietermaritzburg community and for their invaluable partnership with Liberty Midlands Mall. The Business of the Year Award was presented to Mayuris for outstanding overall performance.
Maurice Mdlolo, Liberty Properties CEO commented, “To see and be a part of such success is a great feeling. Due to the hard work and on-going commitment shown by our tenants, our mall has grown from strength to strength.”
Mdlolo goes onto comment, “It is through this success that we continually experience a high demand for retail space, by both local and national retailers. And it is off the back of this that there are once again plans for further development this year, which is indicative of the increasing commitment from Liberty Properties to the Pietermaritzburg area.”
Khan concludes, “Our tenants have a very clear passion and burning desire to make it happen, not only for themselves, but for the Mall and all those involved. The last decade has been a robust and sturdy journey for us and I look forward to the next ten years and how the Mall will be a part of successfully growing this economic hub in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
