Exclusive Silverhurst property for sale

Silverhurst Estate in Constantia has long been known for its top security and prestigious homes, and demand is high for properties here, says Lanice Steward, managing director of Knight Frank Residential SA. This 76 freehold unit estate is surrounded by some of South Africa’s top wine estates and is on the road that makes up the Constantia Wine Route. This estate also has its own walking trail which is along the northern perimeter of the estate and easy access to hikes from Constantia Nek and the slopes of Table Mountain. One of the homes currently on the market in Silverhurst epitomises the exclusive and luxurious lifestyle of Silverhurst, and, say the Knight Frank agents marketing this home, “could hold its own against any of the most luxurious homes across the world”. “It is rare that a property of this calibre comes onto the market,” they said. The 2 000m² home is sited on the largest plot in the estate, which covers 5 100m². It has seven bedrooms, six bathrooms, six living rooms, two studies, a swimming pool, staff accommodation, a two bedroom flatlet, garaging for six cars and additional parking for eight vehicles. The listed price is R50 million. The home has wooden floors in the lounge and dining room, tiled floors in the TV lounges and entrance, and the bedrooms and carpeted. All the windows have double glazing. The kitchen has granite countertops with Gaggenau fitted appliances. Special features in the home include a Lutron home automation system which controls the lighting in the living areas, the hot water supply, all the underfloor heating, swimming pool heat pumps and the automated swimming pool cover. This system allows the owner to control the operation of these via his iPad or iPhone from anywhere in the world. The system has led to a saving of approximately 40% on the overall electricity consumption. The security system is state-of-the-art, which includes full CCTV coverage by nine cameras and full monitoring of all the windows and doors via hidden sensors. The main gate and entrance to the house are controlled by keypad or tag access, with different codes for family, staff or friends. The home is fitted with a Bose full surround sound system, with speakers in the formal lounge, TV room, second TV lounge, all the open plan areas upstairs and downstairs, dining room, laundry, main bedroom and en suite, breakfast and swimming pool patio, and is controlled via remotes. The house is fitted with a backup generator, which supplies enough power to continue as normal, should there be a power outage. The garden is fully landscaped and has two irrigation systems, one freshwater and the other is borehole water, which can both be connected to the automated home system. The saltwater swimming pool is fitted with two heat pumps and ozonators, which controls algae growth, and the Jacuzzi has a direct hot water supply. “Property value increases in this estate have surpassed many others in the southern suburbs,” said Steward, “with values in Silverhurst varying from R11 million to R28 million and the average home increasing tenfold since its inception. The luxury and very generous proportions of this home, with every attention to detail makes this one stand out as one that would suit a high net worth corporate buyer who wants their family to live in a high security environment but has the feel of being in the country.”
