Pam Golding Properties encourages home owners to participate in popular Verge Competition

The Pam Golding Properties (PGP) Fourways/Dainfern office is running its popular Verge Competition for the third consecutive year and encourages property owners in the area to participate.

“The Pam Golding Properties Fourways office covers the suburbs spanning from Sunninghill to Northriding and any homeowners and complexes within this area may enter the competition,” says Jason Shaw, manager of the PGP Fourways/Dainfern office. “Last year the winner of the home category came from Paulshof while the winner of the best complex category was in Northriding.”

“The competition is now in its third year and has been very well received by the local communities,” adds Shaw. “In the first year of the competition only freestanding homes could be entered and complexes clamoured to participate so a category was added for them the following year. To further motivate homeowners, we have added a “Most Improved Verge” category. Winners in each of the four categories will receive a R5000 cash prize, sponsored by PGP.”

The PGP Outstanding Verge Competition is held annually in order to encourage people to beautify their verges and suburbs, observes Shaw. He points out that verges create an important first impression on visitors to a suburb and can even positively impact property prices. The competition seeks to encourage homeowners to consider the importance of the appearance of their verges and to take pride in their neighbourhoods.

Shaw says that entries for the competition can be submitted from 1 September 2013. Judging will commence on 1 October and will close at the end of November. However, with Spring already officially here, property owners and complexes are advised to start working on their masterpieces. Verges can be entered into the competition via email, the PGP Fourways/Dainfern office Facebook page: www.facebook.com/fourways or by contacting your local PGP agent who can photograph your verge and enter it into the competition for you.

Shaw says that the verges entered into the competition are judged on a number of criteria. Judges look at the overall attractiveness of the garden as well as giving consideration to how innovatively plants and features such as rock formations, stone carvings, water features and other elements are used. Other aspects taken into account include whether the garden is indigenous or has its own unique theme. Shaw points out that each verge is judged on its own merits.
