The very high standard of the homes in the upper price brackets at Bloubergstrand, Sunset Beach, Sunset Links and Big Bay in Cape Town is not yet fully appreciated by the many of those who live in other areas, says Mike Abrahamse, franchisee for the Rawson Property Group in Bloubergstrand and the adjacent areas.
“When people from overseas call on our offices,” he says, “it is almost always because, having inspected what is on offer here, they are impressed by the clean, modern look of our coastal suburbs and by the chic, sophisticated designs that architects of the last two decades have introduced into these areas, particularly those fronting onto the sea.”
“Europeans who are well acquainted with the French, Spanish and Italian coastal areas have told us time and again that what we are able to offer here is vastly superior to anything that they can acquire for the same price in Europe – and, of course, at today’s exchange rates, it is increasingly easy for them to buy at what are, in effect, 30 to 50% discounts.”
Four homes currently on the stock list at his franchise, says Abrahamse, illustrate the quality of Cape Town’s West Coast homes very well. These are:
· A four bedroom, four bathroom home in Upper Bloubergstrand. This home has top-of-the-range finishes in its communal areas, which are open-plan and link to the living, kitchen and dining precincts. The home also offers panoramic views of Table Bay and Robben Island and the price here is R9,9 million.
· A three bedroom, two bathroom home with a mono pitched roof. This home is sited in a quiet cul-de-sac in The Ridge area. The home is only a stone’s throw from the beach and has views of both Table Mountain and Table Bay. The price is R3,3 million.
· A luxurious home in the heart of Bloubergstrand Village that boasts top of the range finishes throughout, offering spacious accommodation and many entertainment areas, as well as a beautiful pool area. The house is also built in a way that allows for comfortable dual-living.
· A lavish four bedroomed house in Sunset Beach on the market for R5,9 million. The home has underfloor heating, air-conditioning, climate control and high-end finishes. Seamless glass stack doors lead out to an undercover patio and there is also a spacious guest suite with a stylish open-plan bathroom, extra parking, a full flatlet, domestic quarters and state of the art security.
“Any of these homes bought at today’s prices,” says Abrahamse, “represent an excellent acquisition. Although prices are recovering steadily, they are still below what many of us would regard as at their true market value and this will become evident over the next two to three years.”
