Prince Harry and his African counterpart, Prince Seeiso Bereng Seeiso of Lesotho attended the Sentebale Gala Dinner, supported by Investec Asset Management. The gala dinner marked the launch of Sentebale’s major capital fundraising programme to build the first permanent Mamohato Centre for children and youth in Lesotho, and raised a significant amount for the cause.
The Sentebale Gala Dinner took place at the prestigious Summer Place in Hyde Park, Johannesburg. The High St Auction Co. and its lead auctioneer, Joff van Reenen is recognised as one of Southern Africa’s most internationally experienced auctioneers, exceeded expectations at the successful auction. Says van Reenen, “It is powerful to know that the personal and company investment we have contributed will leave a legacy. Events like these do not only have impact on the evening and for the guests that bid, but continue long after through the many children and youth that will receive care in Lesotho.”
The establishment of the Mamohato Centre in Lesotho will increase the reach of the Sentebale initiative, founded by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso in memory of their late mothers. The Mamohato Centre, which has been envisioned to consist of the Mamohato hub, Children’s cabins, Thaba Bosiu meeting hall and a Camp-fire social area, will enable the Sentebale initiative to support and provide for more of the children and youth affected by HIV/AIDS.
In support of this programme, The High St Auction Co. and Joff van Reenen auctioned off a Royal Charity Polo Day, a Big Game Capture Experience and a Quintessentially British Invitation as well as a beautiful piece of jewellery made exclusively for Sentebale by Gerrad, the oldest jewellery house in the world. The auction raised a substantial amount, a fantastic start to the major fundraising campaign which will transform the dream of the Mamohato Centre into a reality.
